Are we in a deflationary cycle where all asset values will decline sharply?

Asset prices over the last 30 year inflated because of excessive availability of credit. Credit worthiness is now in decline. Even the US Government is being threatened with downgrades by Moody's. Lack of credit drives down the number over buyers in an asset class. I'm thinking the party may be over. Can you hear an grisly roaring?
