Should I get at tattoo if I'm joining the Marines?

Having a tattoo doesn't make you a Marine. Joining the Marine Corps does not make you a Marine. You aren't a Marine until you successfully complete boot camp. Showing up to boot camp sporting a Marine tattoo will make you look like a poser. But, you do it your way.
