Uni examiner made a marking error, can't send it for reconsideration. What to do now? NZ?

Wrote an essay for my university. The marker must have read the sentence wrong because he said I did something that I specifically worded in the sentence to avoid. The mark was given back to us a few days ago, but exactly 1 day from the reconsideration day. In other words I had 1 day to file for reconsideration. I missed that date by 2 days as I've just checked my marks today. Is there any way to get it remarked because I think the marker made a mistake. (NZ)
