How do you get sound out of the bagpipes?

Does your instructor know you 'filed down my reed' ? Too much and the reed closes off and won't play. You should let your instructor handle all reed issues until you learn what to do. Squeezing the bag will not get your chanter to sound. You have to blow harder. You really NEED to have your instructor work with you on this. You've got a long way to go before you're ready to play with the band.
